Component Design
At Enginise we understand what is required to design components in a highly dynamic and competitive world. We have extensive experience taking component design from the concept phase of a project, through detailed design, through simulation, testing and into production. We can help with the following:

Material and heat treatment selection
Load determination
Manufacturing Process consideration
Drawing specification, Geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
We also offer a design appraisal service where we will evaluate an existing design, highlighting opportunities for improved performance, durability, mass optimisation and cost reduction.

Failure Analysis
Our experience in failure analysis includes identifying fracture and wear mechanisms in components made from steel, aluminium alloys and titanium alloys. Data is collected relating to the design, manufacturing process and operating conditions when the failure occurred. This data, combined with macroscopic inspection of the fracture surface, often leads to the identification of the root cause of the failure. In cases where further investigation is required, specialist examination can be sub-contracted using our contacts e.g. Electron microscopy and X-Ray analysis.

Developing Engineering Solutions
Once the engineering challenge is understood (e.g. improving durability, increasing performance, reducing mass), the next step is to develop an efficient solution. We work closely with the client, combining experience and a range of tools (FEA, CFD and others). to converge on a solution that works within the unique constraints of your organisation. We try to use open source software wherever possible to keep costs to a minimum but have experience using various commercial codes if that better suits the client or the particular problem in question.

Developing People
If we were asked what is the key ingredient to success, without hesitation we would say 'people'. Having the right talent, developing the right technical skills, and understanding how different personality types combine to bring balance and energy are all key to establishing a high performing team. Matt has experience as a hiring manager for a powertrain design department, being involved in the whole recruitment process and also coaching and developing people to help them fulfil their potential. We can help with the screening, testing and interviewing of applicants applying to work at your organisation as well as coaching and mentoring existing employees. We also offer a service directly to engineering applicants to prepare them for the application process. This includes CV review, mock engineering interview (with technical and non-technical sections) and comprehensive feedback.
